Day 1: Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut

  • Altitude: 1,500m to 2,500m
  • Hiking Distance: 10km
  • Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

  • Accommodation: Miriakamba Hut

Your journey commences at the Momela Gate within Arusha National Park. The trail leads through lush montane forests, alive with the sounds of birds and the rustling of wildlife. As you ascend, you'll begin to witness stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut, nestled within the forest, where you'll spend the night.

 

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

  • Altitude: 2,500m to 3,570m
  • Hiking Distance: 8km
  • Hiking Time: 3-5 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Accommodation: Saddle Hut

The journey continues through enchanting moorland and captivating landscapes. As you approach Saddle Hut, located between Little Meru and Meru's main peak, the views become more expansive. Rest at Saddle Hut, taking in the stunning surroundings and preparing for the summit push.

 

Day 3: Summit Attempt - Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak and Miriakamba Hut

  • Altitude: 3,570m to 4,566m (Socialist Peak) and down to 2,500m (Miriakamba Hut)
  • Hiking Distance: 5km ascent, 13km descent
  • Hiking Time: 4-6 hours to the summit, 5-7 hours descent
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert and Moorland
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Accommodation: Miriakamba Hut
